Brothers Both Had Pyloric Stenosis Is Pyloric Stenosis Common Between Two Brothers That Are Three Years Apart?

Is pyloric stenosis common between two brothers that are three years apart? - brothers both had pyloric stenosis

My little brother and I had pyloric stenosis. I am 18 years and he is 15 and we are also in order. I just want to know if this is widespread.

More than one PS case in a family is quite widespread. Apart from circumcision PS is the most common surgery on infants and affects 3-5 babies in every 1000, and our genes are one of several causes. PS is multi-factorial - there are several possible causes, but heredity is the biggest. So if your mother had PS, the chance for any son jumps to about 20% and daughters 7%. If your father had PS the chances are less, about 5% for sons and 2.5% for daughters. And so on - the stats vary a bit depending on the study, but this gives you some idea. A mother I know whose brother had PS but she didn't still passed it on to both her sons, and one of them to 2 of her 3 kids. If you want some references to articles on this let me know: there are lots.
